If you are studying low carb diets as a way to attain your weight loss goals, you should consider the pitfalls of getting in over your head. These types of low carb diets allow for maximum weight loss, but can have some unpleasant side effects including sleeplessness, bad breath and extreme mood swings.
Before you begin your journey, remember that the all or nothing approach is not always the best way to attain your dieting goals. A low carb diet can still be nutritionally sound if you go about it in the right way. Don't look at the carb as your enemy. They are an essential part of a balanced diet and provide a majority of the energy that our bodies need to function, but you can be smart about the dietary choices you make and still achieve your weight loss goals without turning to one of the many low carbs diets.

One approach lies in limiting the amount of sugars that you put into your diet. To achieve this, you must be aware that there are two types of sugars that can affect your carbohydrate intake. By limit, we mean don't overindulge on fruit just because you are trying to cut out other "bad" carbs such as breads or pastas.

The second type of sugars are considered the bad boys in low carb diets . They include what are referred to as the added sugars. You can find them in the form of table sugar, honey, high fructose corn syrup, molasses, maple syrup, born rice syrup and barley malt. These types of sugars are a definite no-no on low carb diets. But, as with anything you can choose to "limit" the amount you consume as opposed to total deprivation. You have to know what to do as far as low carb diets are concerned.
Education is the number one thing to ensure weight loss success. Not just low carb food. Sometimes it's more complicated than the pundits tell you. Look to the labels and "sugar" content to achieve a smarter balance in your nutritional needs.
