Carnivore vs. Carbnivore
Are you a carnivore or a Carbnivore? Carnivores, as you may or may not know, are meat eaters. Many low carb dieters are carnivores. But a Carbnivore is someone who eats mostly carbs. Right now, there's a huge debate over which it's better to be--a carnivore or a Carbnivore.

Here at Carbnivore, we believe it's better to be a Carbnivore, provided you're eating the right kind of carbs. This site is all about good nutrition, so if you're here looking for tips about making your low carb diet work, what you'll likely find is reasons why you shouldn't be on it. However, you will also find advice and information about healthy diet alternatives. While it's not entirely bad to watch your carb intake (most of us eat far more than we need) and meat is a good source of protein, cutting carbohydrates out of your diet to the point that most low carbohydrate diets suggest is simply NOT good for you.

Good vs. Evil
When it comes to food (carbs in particular) there's a sort of good vs. evil going on. Good carbs (also known as complex carbohydrates) include the following:

Whole grains
Whole wheat breads
Whole wheat pastas
Whole grain cereals (not sugar sweetened)
Brown or long grain rice
Oats (not instant oatmeal)
Fruits
Vegetables

Bad carbs (also known as simple carbohydrates, or evil carbs) include:

Anything made with white flour, including white breads, regular pasta, cakes and pie crust
White rice
Sugary snacks
Sugary drinks
Sugary cereals and instant oatmeal

On this site, we'll explain the difference between good and evil carbs, and we'll explain why good carbs are so much healthier. We hope you enjoy the site. After all, it's giving you permission to continue being a Carbnivore!

"Carbohydrates can kill!""Carbohydrates are evil!" Those are just some of the cries we've heard in the past 8 years or so about carbs. (Okay, nobody said they can kill. Not directly anyway.) But not all carbs are bad...

Carb counting: Good idea or not? Yes and no. You should definitely keep track of your carb intake to make sure you don't exceed what your body needs, but don't go below that number either.
